After years of patient advocacy, Governor Kemp signed SB 220 — the most significant expansion of Georgia's medical cannabis program since Haleigh's Hope Act. New qualifying conditions, extended card validity, digital card acceptance, and new product forms are now law.
Cannabis was rescheduled from Schedule I to Schedule III under the federal Controlled Substances Act — a landmark change that improves research access, eases banking restrictions, and reduces the tax burden on licensed dispensaries.
GMCS members and allies successfully pushed back against a proposed rule that would have eliminated telehealth certification for medical cannabis patients. The Commission retained telehealth as a valid certification pathway.
