About the Designation

The GMCS Trusted Provider Designation is awarded to Georgia-licensed healthcare providers who complete GMCS provider education requirements and meet established criteria for patient-centered medical cannabis practice. Designated providers are listed in the GMCS provider directory, making it easier for registered patients to find knowledgeable, compassionate care. The designation is voluntary, noncommercial, and renewed on an annual basis.

What the Designation Means

  • Completed GMCS Provider Education

Trusted Providers have completed Compassion in Practice — GMCS's provider-focused education series covering the Georgia medical cannabis program, qualifying conditions, clinical considerations, and patient communication.

  • Commitment to Patient-Centered Care

Designated providers have affirmed their commitment to stigma-free, evidence-informed conversations with patients about medical cannabis as part of a comprehensive care plan.

  • Listed in the GMCS Provider Directory

Trusted Providers appear in the GMCS Find a Provider directory, helping registered patients and caregivers locate providers who are knowledgeable about Georgia's medical cannabis program.

  • Annual Renewal

The designation is renewed annually. Providers must remain current with GMCS education updates and affirm continued commitment to the program's standards.

How to Apply

  1. Complete Compassion in Practice

Attend a GMCS Compassion in Practice session — in person, via webinar, or through a partner organization. This is the foundational education requirement for the designation.

  2. Submit Your Application

Complete the Trusted Provider application form, including your license information, practice details, and attestation of the program's patient-centered care standards.

  3. GMCS Review

GMCS reviews applications on a rolling basis. You will be notified of your designation status within 10 business days of a complete application submission.

  4. Directory Listing & Designation Materials

Upon approval, your practice is listed in the GMCS Find a Provider directory. You will receive designation materials including a digital badge for use on your practice website and patient communications.

Who Is Eligible

The Trusted Provider Designation is open to Georgia-licensed physicians (MDs and DOs), nurse practitioners, and physician assistants who are eligible to certify patients under Georgia's medical cannabis program. Other licensed healthcare professionals — including pharmacists, nurses, and social workers — may apply for an associate designation recognizing their participation in GMCS provider education.
